FRUIT BODY: Up to 4cm in diameter. Otherwise known as the Conifer Blueing Bracket this is always a nice species to find on any foray. The semi-circular fruiting bodies are usually in small groups of overlapping tiers and are whitish-grey becoming blue on handling. The upper surface is covered in fine long hairs. GILLS/PORES: The circular pores are up to 4mm wide and are white at first becoming more blue-grey. FLESH: White, containing moisture and flexible. SPORES: White with hints of blue-grey, sausage-shaped and amyloid. HABITAT: Found mainly on decomposing coniferous wood, especially Spruce. SEASON: Autumn. EDIBILITY: Inedible. |
